I'm getting tired of Spirit Shell trying to take the place of spells we already have that work perfectly fine, even better than the current iteration SS. We had a very
functional single-target toolkit up until this point with PW:S, Penance, Heal (or Atonement), Greater Heal and Flash Heal coupled with Divine Aegis. Please stop trying to mess
with those. We were and are quite happy with them.
What we need as Discipline is help with AoE healing. There is still no Holy Nova and we have no Divine Hymn. Recall please that putting DA on top of PoH was a last-minute and
messy fix late in Cataclysm's launch to address the lack of AoE healing power- and that's all it did, make PoH marginally more powerful. We still have that ugly, inefficient
kludge and it's no more intuitive now than it was before. If you need to do AoE healing, you're wasting the DA. If you need to do pre-shielding, you're wasting the heal. In
situations of constant AoE damage, the combination of both makes it ridiculously OP. I really dislike that this is the only AoE tool we're bringing into a new expansion.
My suggestion is this: make Spirit Shell an exact copy of PoH, only make it stack shields instead of healing. Take the DA off of PoH. Suddenly, we have two very potent AoE
healing tools, each which can serve a specific purpose. I'm sure you can solve the issue of such a thing being OP by balancing mana costs, shield strength, cast time, perhaps
even a cooldown- you may even make it apply Weakend Soul (and take it off PW:S perhaps). But this would make us value our mastery, rely less on PW:S (so you could actually leave
the CD on it), boost us where we are weakest, and truly fit into the niche of absorbing.
This would go back to the original concept of PW:B where it absorbed a certain amount of damage rather than a percentage reduction, but on a much smaller scale of a cast-time
spell rather than a raid cooldown. So I know that this has crossed your desks before as a functional idea. Please reconsider it.
